Hi,
for our Halloween dinner party I wanted to make a cocktail. But since we were planning to have wine accompanying every dish, it sounded wise to make something alcohol free – thus halloween punch. I wanted it to be pomegranate based, and it turned out that half pomegranate half sour cherry is the way to go. Pink guave juice and honey give it a warm taste. Even though we drink it cold, it still feels warm. And you can just fee all the good stuff inside.
I tried to use as many 100% squeezed juices as I could. And instead of sugar, I used honey and a little bit of agave syrup that I had. Without any sweetener it was super acidic. When making it, I suggest to constantly taste it, so you don’t make it too sweet. The amount of sweetener used would depend on the sweetness of juices.
Here’s the recipe I used:
Ingredients for Halloween punch
1L pomegranate 100% juice (pressed pomegranate juice)
1L sour cherry juice
1/2L pressed orange juice
1/2 pink guava juice
1 cup boiling water
4Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp agave syrup (you can just use honey)
2 thinly sliced oranges
1 thinly sliced apple
Mix all juices in a glass container. Melt honey with boiling water and add into the mixed juices. Taste the mix and if necessary add the syrup or more honey. Add the oranges and apple slices and leave overnight in fridge. Transfer the punch into a punch bowl before serving. If you want it extra cold, then add ice to the punch bowl before serving it.
Enjoy! 🙂
p.s. Apple slices that were steeped in this punch are delicious.
