Blueberry limeade – refreshingly zingy

Blueberry limeade

Hi,
this is a drink I made on Sunday. It’s refreshingly crisp and zingy. Ir has some bitterness due to the lime, but it’s just enough to be noticeable and just little enough to be refreshing. I think this is a perfect beverage for hot summer days.

Needed for Blueberry limeade

1L mineral water (bubbly)
2 limes
3 Tbsp sugar
150g blueberries
5 Tbsp water

First slice one lime to rounds. Add cca 300 mL of bubbly mineral water to the pitcher and add lime rounds. Then add the blueberries to the limes and water. I suggest to score with knife or nail a couple of blueberries so they give bit more flavour and colour to the beverage. Make lime simple syrup by combining the sugar and water and juice of half lime in a pot and heating it up until sugar is dissolved. I also added the skin of juiced half to the sugar and water so it gives more lime taste.

When simple syrup is done, pour it to the pitcher, atop of lime rounds and blueberries. Leave in fridge for at least 4 hours but preferably over night. To finish it up, add the rest of the mineral water to the pitcher and the juice of half lime. Adjust to your taste with more lime of you want it to be more sour or more simple syrup for sweeter taste. I like mine to not be sweet, but just have a hint of sweetness.

For serving I added the purple chopsticks, so you can muddle fruit a bit more to give stronger taste if so desired. Drink cool on hot summer day nad enjoy!
