Christmas/Yule table settings

Three Christmas/Yule table settings

Hi,
I got a couple of ideas for christmas/yule table settings that I would like to share with you. They are all very natural and simple, and don’t require a lot of decorations. Two of them are formal while the last one is casual table settings.

1. Gold, white and green setting

gold table setting

This formal setting would be nice in other occasions. It is clean and simple. Decorations that we are using are:

  • golden small hedgehogs
  • cristal vase or upside down cake stand with boxwood or other evergreen branches
  • cloths with golden print

It is done for the meal that has 4 courses:

  1. salad or cold appetizer
  2. soup
  3. main dish
  4. dessert

And has two glasses – one for water and other for wine.

2. Red, green and gray setting

This yule table setting is influenced by the traditional elements of ivy and apple, with ivy symbolizing the longevity and apple symbolizing the fertility that is to come. Candles are for light that is being born in the darkest of nights. Main centerpiece is made mostly from ivy branches, with gray candles and red dogwood branches. On the plates there are red apples, that can serve as party favours and as stands for name tags. The candles are gray in colourĀ  in order to provide a bit muted setting. If you want to add a bit of bling, you can use silver candles. Decorations in this setting are:

  1. red apples
  2. long candle stand that is used as a vase as well
  3. 3 gray candles
  4. ivy branches
  5. dogwood branches
  6. white or dark red napkins if you want to accentuate red colour more

We will also serve the 4 courses like in last setting so there is not a lot of difference in this and the previous setting.

3. Orange and green setting

Orange christmas setting

The casual setting that does not require you to have any specific decorations and does not use a lot of cutlery. The glasses here are simple water glasses, and there are no two plates setup. On the plates we are alternating cookies and mandarines. Good thing about this decoration is that is almost completely edible. The only not edible things are paper napkins and evergreen branches:

  1. clementines or mandarines or oranges
  2. cookies (optional)
  3. paper napkins
  4. evergreen branches

Thsi setting is more for a relaxed family surrounding. If you are serving soup you can put the soup plate there as well, or just fill the plate with soup and then take it to the table. You can eat out of the one plate everything except the dessert. This will require its own dessert plate if the dessert served requires a plate. This setting is good for buffet style of serving food.
