Wheelie bin shed from reclaimed wood

Wheelie bin shed

Hi,
this week we did a bigger diy project. We finally made use of all of the pallets that we had in our yard and made a wheelie bin shed. A place we can store our wheelie bins (almost) out of sight and out of way. Usually after garbage day, my hubby would simply put wheelie bins somewhere, usually in the way because they didn’t have their spot in the yard. Now they do. Finally. No more wheelie bins everywhere.

Here in Osijek we have a system of 2 wheelie bins for households and 4 bins for buildings. Soon households will get the third wheelie bin for plastic. Right now we only get the yearly supply of plastic recycling bags in which we have to put all our plastic recyclables. But the city is working on providing us with the third wheelie bin. Thus we made our shed big enough that it can house all three wheelie bins. Now it will house two wheelie bins and an old bin that we use to keep the plastics.

We also have a plan to put some doors on the shed, but only up to the height of the wheelie bin. They will cover the bins but you don’t have to open doors every time you use the bins. We say that this is version 1 of our bin storage 🙂 . Below you can see photos of the materials and tools we used, and a bit of stages. Most likely if a carpenter reads this post and sees the images he will shake his head. But this is how we did it. We’ll keep on improving it.

Also we planed to make the green roof with succulents so that we have a nice view of wheelie bin shed from our garage roof patio. If you have any suggestions about what succulents we should plant, write in the comments.
